How to Make a Goldfish Christmas Ornament

I saw something like this for sale on Etsy.  They were so adorable and looked easy enough to make, so I thought I would give it a try.  They came out super cute and I can't wait to give them to the ladies in my office.  Much more practical than the desktop beta fish that don't get fed while people are on vacation.

These would also make great favors for a kid's birthday party or prizes at a kid's carnival!

Completed Goldfish Ornament

Supplies

1. Aquarium Rocks (WalMart $3 for 5lbs)
2. Clear Plastic Christmas Ornaments (AC Moore $1 each)
3. Vinyl Goldfish (Oriental Trading $7 for 144 fish)
4. Fishing Line (WalMart $5)
5. Needle
6. Scissors
7. Funnel

Process

1. Use the funnel to fill the bottom of the ornament with aquarium rocks.
• I used about 2-3 tablespoons, but do what you think looks best.
2. Thread the fishing line through the needle and poke it through the fish's top fin.
• Leave about 3" on each side of the fish and cut the line.
3. Squeeze the fish through the hole int he top of the ornament.
• Make sure you hold onto both ends of the fishing line.
4. Poke the two ends of the line through the two small holes in the top of your ornament.
5. Adjust the fish to the height and position you want him in.
6. Tie the two ends together in a double knot, then trim the ends.
7. Put the top back on your ornament.
8. Hang it on your tree or wrap it as a gift for a special friend.
